Dongle? What’s a dongle? A dongle is a USB device that plugs into your computer or laptop enabling mobile internet access. It actually looks a lot like the flash drives most of us know and love for storing and carrying data, photos, and music files. Dongles have become very popular in 2008, particularly in the UK.
The internet is completely mobile these days, and you can have a wireless connection just about anywhere. You can be sitting in at McDonald’s or Starbucks enjoying the free wi-fi, or you could be sitting in the middle of park connected with your own mobile internet connection.
We’re even wireless at home! Heck, I’m sitting in my living room typing this blog post from the arm chair while watching a movie, with my feet up and a nice fluffy pillow behind my back. All thanks to broadband technology that lets me go wherever I want with my laptop. I can even sit in my backyard and work on my websites while my boys play ball or rake up a pile of leaves to jump in.
However and wherever you enjoy your internet connection, always browse safely. Particularly when you’re mobile you want to check your firewall and be mindful of any downloads or uploads that you do. This is especially true when you’re enjoying that free wi-fi connection.
