An Iphone App to Make Shopping Fun!

iphone mart bingo appThere’s an iphone app for everything; you can figure out which direction you’re traveling in with the scarily accurate compass application and you can pretend to be Daft Punk with the endlessly entertaining idaft application.

One iphone app which is making a trip to the supermarket more than just a hunter/gatherer experience is Mart Bingo. This app is a game of bingo, but instead of marking off numbers, you’re looking out for common features that we all come across on a shopping trip. Let’s take the example of a trolley which has a dodgy wheel. It’s surely the most common occurrence that is globally recognized as the most annoying thing about a shopping experience. You’re trying to steer it one way and it pushes you right into a display of beans. You narrowly miss out on spending a fortune on broken cans and you are horrendously embarrassed. Well this is one of the things that you can immediately mark off your Mart Bingo card.

The game features a standard bingo grid, and a selection of common occurrences that take place when shopping. The selection is taken from a total of 100 possible occurrences that might take place at your local supermarket, including the very common credit card declines and people blocking the aisle locked in a conversation about nappies.

It’s all very tongue in cheek, but this game is a fun way to mark down when you notice crazy things going on in store. You can of course, email your results to friends and compete to achieve the most marked off squares and see who can get a bingo first!

The dawn of the iPhone has launched an app for just about everything, so why not use yours to have a silly shopping trip. Just try not to laugh out loud when you’re marking off some rare finds, like seeing a bird fly into the store.

A Rave With a Twist

Gadget Girls, watch out, your night is being interrupted by Bingo! It’s a massive phenomena sweeping the world with an alternative bingo audience taking part in a night of raving, glowsticks and bingo.

You might never put bingo and a rave together but the idea is catching on with games of ‘Cosmic Bingo’ taking place in nightclubs across the globe. On your night out, you’ll be able to experience all the fun of loud music, neon lights and a game of fast paced bingo which will test your wits as everything around you is whirring and glowing.

Once you enter the themed night, you receive a glow in the dark bingo card and this is where your surreal night begins! You might associate traditional bingo with an eerily silent bingo hall with people rapidly dabbing away at bingo cards, multitasking to the max and probably earning themselves a hernia in the process but Cosmic Bingo turns this stereotype on its head, making it another way to bring bingo to a younger demographic. Online bingo has become a huge phenomena, allowing people across the globe to interact whilst playing bingo, but for those who are 24/7 party animals, Cosmic Bingo could well be a new way to introduce a bit of tame bingo fun into a fast paced lifestyle.

At a Cosmic Bingo game, the pressure is wholeheartedly removed and the aim of the game is to have a fantastic time with the music cranked right up to 11. Try to talk over the music, sing your head off and dance your socks off whilst playing bingo on your night out. It’s an unusual twist to the usual night out but its proving very popular among the younger demographic; granting ravers the possibility to win prizes by matching up their glow in the dark numbers to the numbers called over the music and projected onto huge screens within the venue.

So crack out those legwarmers, slap on the body paint and prepare yourself for a night of Cosmic Bingo, coming to a city near you soon!

Singin’ and Dancin’

I love a good musical. I even sometimes love a bad musical. I’m hoping that the new “Footloose” proves to be one of the good ones. They’ve already cast Chace Crawford, which is someone that I, being 30 years old, have never heard of, and they’re in talks to cast Julianne Hough opposite him. Most of us “older folks” (and I use “older” loosely, because I’m not that old) will know Julianne from Dancing With The Stars. She’s a fabulous dancer and she’s even coming into her own as a singer. I’m not as much a fan of her singing, because a) I don’t really like country music that much and b) she has one of those mousy, child-like voices that doesn’t appeal to me. But, she’s great if you’re into that kind of thing. At any rate, I think she’d do very well in that role and I’m almost a little excited about it! Besides, maybe if Julianne successfully crosses from dancing to music to movies, her brother, Derek, will follow in her footsteps, as he did with DWTS, and he makes GREAT eye-candy!!

Time will tell if Julianne gets the role, but even if she doesn’t, I think I’m excited about a “Footloose” remake!
