Browsing in Digital Geek

Don’t worry I’m not talking about plugging hydroxycut into your disk reader, or deleting all those mp3 files you’ve been saving up. I’m talking about putting all your important data on an external hard drive like this Western Digital WDXMS1200TN 120 GB Passport USB 2.0 Hard Drive pictured here. They’re great for backups and for keeping all those pictures and mp3s on. The less “stuff” you have on the hard drive the faster and smoother your computer is going to run.

Google is slowly upgrading Gmail accounts in small waves. Mine upgraded itself just the other day, it was sort of weird at first. I’m not sure what happened but some of my messages got stuck out in cyber space from that day and they all came rushing into my inbox this morning. I haven’t heard of many people experiencing that so it must have been a minor glitch in the change over. Or my email is just slow … I don’t know. I haven’t had many other problems yet, but I haven’t done much aside from send and read email. I labeled a few things for later reference and that was about all …. Have you noticed any bugs or oddities in the new version?

The keyboard shopping sage continues! And it shall go onward until we find something LOL This one has some lighting to it and you can choose blue, purple or red for your lighting! It’s a mood keyboard! I don’t know what it is about this one, it just looks sexy sitting there all lit up in the dark. Yes, I’m a gadget geek ~ I can’t help it. It’s like a new car to a car nut.

The Saitek Eclipse II keyboard builds on the success of the backlit Eclipse and gaming keyboards, now offering a choice of colors – purple, red and blue – selectable by the user and adjustable via a dimmer mechanism. The key characters and keypad illuminate making the Eclipse II keyboard ideal for use in any lighting environment.

Solidly constructed from high quality materials including a stylish silver casing, the Eclipse II’s weighted base and large area rubber feet keep it firmly planted to the desk, while cushioned, silent keys mean hours of fatigue-free use.

* Key characters and keypad illuminate through laser-etched keys

This is a little higher in price than the nifty waterproof keyboard that we looked at yesterday. But, this one lights up! So the $36.99 price tag isn’t much of a big deal. Ever been working late and thought you could use a little more light on your desk? Well this keyboard lights right up with a luminescent light with world patent and over 5,000 hours lightening time. You can enjoy typing, gaming or surfing the net even with the lights out. Also features scissor-structure keyswitches make it softer & more responsive, as well as it’s low-profile keystroke features like notebook.

I told you I was shopping for a keyboard. Did you think I was kidding. So who wants to go shopping with me? You do? Good. You can help me pick! Cause I have no clue what the heck I want. This waterproof keyboard is $17.99. Yes, I said waterproof. Pretty cool huh?

waterproof black silicone keyboard

Why would I, or anyone, want a silicone water proof keyboard? Because I’m clumsy as heck and I have four kids. Things get spilled. My desk gets messy. Waterproof and spill resistant are words I like to hear.

Other nifty features include the fact that you can roll it up and stuff it in your bag. Since it’s a USB keyboard you can plug it in right into your laptop and have a full keyboard at your fingertips any time. The colorfast printed letters wont come off even after long periods of time. And there’s no clinkity clank noise while you’re typing. Shhhh, quiet.

I am in desperate need of a new keyboard. Despite my oldest son wanting one of those custom World of Warcraft keyboards, which I briefly considered actually getting … I am thinking something else might be more appropriate. I do spend a lot of time on the computer and this keyboard is probably about two years old. It was once a “quiet” keyboard. Quiet is no more, it’s loud as heck when I type. Just ask anyone I’ve chatted with on Skype recently. Don’t try to pitch me your summer condos for sale or get me to buy a bunch of crazy subscriptions to gadget magazines. I can barely afford the new keyboard -lol-

Please I beg of you, tell me your good keyboard stories. I know there’s a totally awesome keyboard out there waiting for me to buy it. Point me in the right direction!?! I’ve looked at wireless, wired, ergonomically designed, regular, boring, colorful, and I just can’t find the perfect one.

Wonder what she’s doing now …

Stop animation always fascinates me, and I’m a hugely obsessed with fan of Grease. Combine that with my 9 year olds love of legos and you’ll understand why this video I found on YouTube got more than one play in our house. Followed by “Mom, can we watch the Grease Lightning movie?” Funny how they think it’s all about he car. Who am I to argue with them?
