… the problem with loving gadgets and gizmos and being on a tight budget is that I don’t always get to have the toys that I want to play with! Well, recently we got our income tax refund and that meant new toys for me ~ woohoo ~ I got a new digital camera, a Dymo label maker, the Wii, and Guitar Hero, and Brian got an inexpensive price marked way down low laptop for his writing. It was good shopping therapy for the geek in me to break free from the thrifty living plan that we usually try to stick to.
What will come of the rest of the money? Well for the first time ever we are going to have money in a savings account. I still can’t believe it myself. We have never had a savings of any kid really. No emergency fund, no backup funding source, nothing. This is a huge first. Our savings isn’t one of the high yield savings accounts, it’s just a boring old one at the credit union that Brian goes to. It feels safe and cozy, but I do wish the interest rate was bigger.
