Our desktop crashed awhile back and I’ve been working 100% off the laptop since then. It’s been difficult to get used to. I miss my desk and my cushy office chair with the gel mouse pad. I miss a full keyboard. Sure I could put the laptop on a desk instead of sitting just any old place. And it would be better for my wrist, but we intend to get a new hard drive installed in the desktop so I don’t have any desk space at the moment.

We’ve been discussing adding another computer to the mix. The desktop we have now would be for Brian’s writing, the kids projects, an of course World of Warcraft playing. Then another computer would be for working. So many questions have come up about what to get.

Another laptop so we have two? The portability is quite nice. Another one wouldn’t be so bad.

Another desktop? A full keyboard and a 19 inch screen have obvious benefits.

Should it be a Mac? This is probably the biggest question. At one time I had to have a PC. I could not do my job from a Mac. That time has passed and I am no longer restricted by someone else’s rules. I can buy whatever I want. A Mac sounds super sexy right now, but the price difference is an obvious concern.

At any rate I know that I will never own another Dell as long as I live. I had nothing but bad experience with them for the two and half years that I was a Dell customer.

So, convince me. Tell me your computer buying story. What works for you? Was switching to Mac the best decision you ever made?
