The past week or two there has been news all across the internet about pr dropping like flies. Big sites, little sites, blogs, no one has been untouched by this mass pr drop. Of course everyone is blogging about it and rumors are flying left and right about penalties and links and all sorts of things. It’s a lot to absorb right now as someone that depends on the internet for the income that feeds my family.

Fortuantely I don’t have all my eggs in one basket, and I try very hard to not depend on Google because they change so much! You’ll notice I don’t run Adsense on any of my blogs. It’s just not the best blogging solution from tests that I’ve run in the past so I don’t bother with them on there. But, I do have static sites that use Adsense and do quite well there. I am a bit worried about those having problems with all the things going on on right now. Right now I’m trying out some new things, like the WidgetBucks you see up above on my homepage. And I’m looking into new options for static pages as well.

So what do you think has the face of the Google changed? Will there be an uproar of upset marketers and ultimately knock Google out of the running, or have they become too big to be knocked down already?

Do you remember when there was no Google? Someone said “Google” and you thought it was a baby toy or some other kid’s thing. There was a large selection of search engines to choose from at one time and there was more than one front runner. Yahoo, AltaVista, All the Web, Lycos, AskJeeves …. ringing any bells? Maybe we should go back in time to that internet. That was only a few year ago!

I haven’t noticed any PR drop or any “google backslapping”. I am really sad for anyone that is having problems, though!
